Here are other mortgage tips for you:
1. Learn how the credit score is calculated and composed of
2. Reduce retail credit cards (Futureshop, theBay, etc)
3. Stay with the cards you have had for a long time (if you have theBay for 10 years, yes, keep it)
4. Ask to increase your credit limit once in 3-4 months (by calling the 1800 number at the back of your card; call and ask to have an increase without them having to "submit" your application; a submit is a soft hit on your credit score, you may lose 1-5 points per hit)
Lastly, if you already have a mortgage, call you lender/bank to switch to a "bi-weekly accelerated mortgage". You can save tremendous amount of money over the life time of the mortgage by doing so.
